Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas
This was a fun trip
and my first trip
with my the
Uni-Go trailer.
and my first trip
with my the
Uni-Go trailer.
Day 1
Dallas, TX to Robber's Cave State Park (Oklahoma)
I got my Uni-Go trailer that morning and decided to try and have it installed before Rick showed up.

Oh, did I mention Rick was doing his BBG and left the day before? Well, he showed up and just in time to help me. After all, it wasn't like he'd been doing any riding the past 24 hrs.

We wrestled with the trailer hitch and got everything put back together then hit the road. Robber's Cave State Park isn't that far north from Dallas, maybe 200 miles, and we still left early enough to get there before dark.

This is a really pretty park,

I plan on coming back some day and exploring it more but this was just a starting point for our real destination Petit Jean State Park.
Day 2
Robber's Cave State Park (Oklahoma) to Petit Jean State Park (Arkansas)
We left Robber's Cave and had to hit the Talimena Drive on the way into Arkansas. I've done this numerous times since my parents live nearby but it never gets old.

We arrived at Petit Jean State Park and it was a big surprise, this park is huge, has many campgrounds and each one is also of considerable size. The restrooms/showers were also of exceptional quality. There are tall pine trees everywhere and it's very quiet.

Day 3
Tour Arkansas
The next morning we head out and tried to hit some of the roads in Arkansas, you can't hit all of them, there are just too many.
Calico Rock, Arkansas

This was my first exposure to Hwy 341 (Push Mtn Road) and wow, was it fun. Don't have a lot of pics of it because it sort of keeps you way to busy to mess with a camera.

We got back to camp and while Rick went to town to get snacks I looked around for firewood. I found a huge fallen tree and for those of us that are pyromaniacs, it was utopia.

However, it didn't want to burn and if it started, we'd probably still be there waiting for it to burn out. So, we burned what we bought from the headquarters area and that was good enough.
Day 4
Head Home
As usual, the last day has mixed emotions. On one hand you'll be glad to get home and take it easy but on the other hand it's the end of another adventure with a good friend. But, as Socrates said, "Not life, but good life, is to be chiefly valued."
A final shot on my way to say hi to my parents before heading back to Dallas.

Here are the rest of my pics and Here are the rest of Rick's.
