Just another
great ride
in the
Texas Hill Country.
Day One
Departure Date: Friday 9th
Departure Time: 8:30 am
Departure Temp:16 degrees in Dallas
It was really cold... I had a couple layers on and my Gerbing Jacket/Socks/Gloves so I was very comfortable.
There were some icy spots but most it them were very easy to avoid.
I made it to Junction at 2pm and met up with Jerry (Goldrush) for his l ast trip on his 2001 Illusion Red Wing. He has a 2006 Gold Goldwing Level 4 (ABS/Audio/Airbag/GPS) on the way and should have it by next weekend.
We had lunch at Lums BBQ in Junction, very good food, then left for Garner State Park.
We got there around 4, setup camp and then went into town for snacks and firewood.
I got a call from Paulo at 8pm, he was in New Braunfels and was going to have two bananas then head to the campground, he said it was very cold.
He finally showed up just before 11pm. He was trying to do his best Blink imitation by riding in cold, dark, deer infested country... He did a very good job.
He un-tied this 57 Bungees and set up his tent.

Day Two-Saturday
Jerry, Paulo and myself got up and went to Utopia to eat at the Lost Maples Cafe then we hit 336, 337, 335. At the end of the day, we headed to Uvalde as Jerry needed a new sleeping bag and a coffee pot.
This was a great day, the roads were near perfect, the weather was perfect and the company was even better.

We got back to the park and I started chopping on and downed tree to get some extra firewood. Blink showed up just after dark; I expected it to snow shortly thereafter but it didn't.
Day Three-Sunday
Jerry left early and Blink and I waited for Paulo to re-bungee his bike before heading back to Utopia for breakfast.

As Paulo was going to check/oil his chain he noticed a funny noise. We thought one of the bungees had caught somewhere. But, it was obviously his rear bearing. We tipped the bike on the front tire and sidestand to get the rear wheel off the ground and there was a lot of
sideways movement.
Our plan was to possibly make it to Round Rock where Paulo has a good friend.
Blink pulled off and headed to Houston near 290/281 in the direction of Austin.
I went a little further to Marble Falls and then Paulo turned off on 1431 towards Round Rock, it looked like he was going to be okay.
He called me after I got home and he was in a rental car. The bike did well until he got very close to his friend's house when it really started acting squirrly.
All-in-all, it was a great ride as we all survived.
HERE are the rest of my pics.
