Wed - Feb 25
DFW to Guadalupe Mtns National Park, TX
I left about noon and had just over 500 miles to go.
I got to the park around 7:30 PM to find Rick / Vicki, Mac / Carole, Forest, George and Pete. I setup my tent, made some soup for dinner and off to bed.

Thu - Feb 26 - Hike Day!
The sun rose quickly.

Everyone got up, had some coffee and breakfast and then proceeded up the mountain.

It's about a 9 mile hike (round trip) and classified as strenuous and the wind was blowing quite hard. There were some spots where coming around a corner the wind just about threw you off the mountain.
There's one spot along the trail with a pretty nice bridge.

The views once you get some altitude are truly inspiring.

Finally, we made it to the top. There's a really nice monument commemorating the Butterfield Stage, a mail and supply route in the mid 19th century.

There's also a metal box with a log book for you to write down your name and any comments you might want to share with others.
We started the hike early and made it back to the campground about 2pm so we decided to go ahead and break down camp and head towards Davis Mtns State Park which is where the 2nd part of this trip - The Big Bend Bash - was happening. It was only 150+ miles away so only a couple to three hours away.
Here are the rest of the Hiking Pics.
