NatSTOC IV
Spearfish, South Dakota
City Campground
Never been to the Black Hills of
South Dakota - but, I will
be back.
We wanted to visit the area during a non-bike week time and since this was the week after the 4th of July, it seemed like good timing. Those that were camping during the holiday would be heading home so camping shouldn't be a problem - it wasn't.
The city and the locals were great and we even had a visit from the mayor Jerry Krambeck.
Tue - Jul 7th
I left work and hit the road. North out of Texas then all the way through Oklahoma and into Kansas.
About 500 miles later I just made it to Wilson State Park in Kansas.

Wed - Jul 8th
I got up early. Just 630 miles to go today.
It was great going through Kansas/Nebraska for the 1st time, all the farmland was surprisingly nice to ride through, not boring at all.
I made it to the Spearfish City Campground to see the Banner flying so I knew I was at the right spot.

We all just stood around and chatted, even helped people setup their tents.

More people seemed to arrive slowly and everyone caught up. The weather was great.

Thu - Jul 9th
Time for a little riding today. We had breakfast in town and took our time and then headed towards Devil's Tower.

Back to town for a quick bite to eat and then to the campground. More people showing up, this was the day most did seem to show up.

Of course, some joker even brought pie!!

Fri - Jul 10th
Today was my chance to ride to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse.
Then back to the campground where more people were showing up.
Before long... the grills and meat came out...

Later on, Mac did a presentation on Trailers and Trailering w/motorcycle.

Dave did a presentation on long distance riding.

Later on that night Terry even starting buying ice cream for everyone.

Sat - Jul 11th
I had about an 850 mile ride to start heading back home today. It was very chilly leaving the campground and the sky opened up on me for the entire state of Nebraska. Finally started to clear up and warm up once I got back into Kansas.

I ended up camping at Roman Nose State Park in Oklahoma.

Sun - Jul 12th
Today was an easy 270 miles home... nothing much to speak of.
Here are the rest of the Pics.
