Just
a trip
to
Petit Jean
State Park, AR
Fri - Nov 6th
I was already at my Mom's place Wednesday and Thursday as her birthday was the upcoming Sunday. So, I was able to see mom and chauffeur her around doing errands as well as sneak in a great Arkansas trip.
Mom lives in Leflore, OK so it wasn't far from the campground.
I left around 6am Friday morning and rode into Arkansas.

My intention was to ride Hwy 23 north and then 412 to Harrison to meet up with Tom and Gary.

It looked like I missed the fall colors peaking, most every thing was brown but that's okay, the road was still there.

I met up with Tom, Gary and Scott in Harrison. We BS'd a little then headed toward the state park. We stopped for lunch and decided to bypass going to Mt Magazine as we'd all been there already, so we went to Mt Nebo which has to have more 10-15 mph curves in one spot that I've ever seen.

There's a great view of the Arkansas Nuclear One power plant on Lake Dardanelle.

I don't see the problem myself. The plant sure has't affected the local sparrow population.

Tom waving.

We headed to Petit Jean State Park, found Jerl and his RV and set up our tents.

As the daylight was starting to fad away some headed to dinner and those of us left started the fire.

Sat - Nov 7th
The main reason for this get together was a lunch that was at Mather's Lodge in the park so we didn't have far to go. We pretty much just sat around in the morning until about 11am.

After lunch, a couple of us headed for Mt Nebo again and then back to the campground.
My previous fire the night before was criticized highly, and unfairly, so I decided to make a better one today.

No one complained about this one. They took the opportunity to pick on each other instead.

Sun - Nov 8th
I left at 7am, I was only 360-ish miles from home so it would be a nice short ride.
It was foggy as soon as I left the park.

Hwy 28 in Arkansas is a very nice road, lot's of 40-45 mph corners and nice surfaces.

Here are the rest of the Pics.
